Controls Engineering Specialist (LAP)

Lead problem-solving efforts to assist plants and implementation teams in resolving tooling, equipment, and conveyor performance issues and downtime.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate resources to identify root causes and fixes, manage and break down problems into actionable items for validation
• Determine proper validation methods
• Handle setup and maintenance of industrial bar code printers
• Design and implement vision control systems; familiarity with various vision cameras and their programming software
• Continuously evaluate equipment for quality and delivery improvements
• Use FIS plant monitoring software to review equipment cycle times and follow up on project installations
• Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements
• Update program backups for machinery and automation
• Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots
• Review risk assessments and evaluate equipment safety as part of a team
• Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians
• Read and modify electrical prints and schematics using AutoCAD
• Maintain familiarity with OA, CPN/MPN networks, and communication protocols for wired and wireless networks
• Manage installation and maintenance of virus protection software for controls network PCs
• Perform PC backup disc images and install communication, firmware, and controls software
• Work overtime and weekends as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and co-op experience considered)
• 5x8 schedule (days/nights), with flexibility to work additional hours/shifts as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
• Electrical background (electrician or technician preferred)
• Familiarity with PLC/CNC (Siemens/Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, ABB, and FANUC Robots
• Solid understanding of laser burning
• Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics, and use AutoCAD
• Validated ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate for process improvements
• Experience with conveyor system programming and overhead gantry
• Solid understanding of networking, including DH+, Ethernet, and remote I/O
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
• Experience with Lean Tools: 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping
• Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes
• Familiarity with TQM and Kaizen methods
• One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
• Knowledge of simulation modeling and visual factory management (preferred)

Pay

• Salary Grade 7: $84,480–$141,360
• Salary Grade 8: $96,720–$162,120
