PACCAR Engine Company operates a $400 million engine manufacturing and technology facility in Columbus, Mississippi, producing 12.9L diesel engines known for fuel efficiency and high technology.

About the Role

Support the machining department and plant-wide electrical and control systems for Heller CNC and Liebherr gantry control systems. Design and implement controls improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement modifications to existing electrical systems, including robotics, automation equipment, and CNC machines.
  • Solicit bids, select contractors, and coordinate with maintenance and production teams.
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget and on schedule while adhering to PACCAR safety requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise major maintenance, emergency repairs, and corrective actions on equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain necessary records and documentation, preparing management reports as required.
  • Implement and maintain computerized PLC and CNC systems.
  • Provide maintenance supervision support as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement by working with the IT department and integrated process monitoring systems.
  • Follow plant standards for filing and maintaining documentation per ISO standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date machine design documentation for all machines.
  • Review engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommend changes.
  • Prepare, manage, and implement capital budget projects.
  • Support Six Sigma projects.
  • Facilitate effective communication to plant management on project status.
  • Work effectively in a high-performance, team-based environment.

This is an evening shift position.

Requirements

  • BSEE or equivalent technical degree required.
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with risk assessments and safety evaluations preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with flexibility to adapt to conflicting requirements.
  • Knowledge of city, state, and federal electrical codes required; mechanical and safety codes preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Profibus, Profisafe, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus preferred.
  • PLC programming using Siemens Step-7, WinCC Flex, and TIA Portal preferred.
  • CNC programming using Siemens Step-7 Powerline and HMI Advance, TIA Portal preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic schematics, ladder diagrams, function block diagrams, and STL for troubleshooting.
  • Exceptional computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment controls.
