About the role
A well-established global manufacturer is seeking a Controls Engineer to join its engineering team supporting highly automated production operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys designing, programming, troubleshooting, and improving industrial automation systems in a modern manufacturing environment. You'll play a key role in developing new control systems, improving existing equipment, and supporting production through automation, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support PLC-based automation systems
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, and industrial robots
- Design electrical control systems for automated manufacturing equipment
- Support commissioning and startup of new equipment and production lines
- Configure and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Troubleshoot electrical controls, communication networks, and automation hardware
- Develop control system architecture, documentation, and engineering standards
- Partner with Maintenance and Manufacturing teams to resolve equipment issues
- Support capital equipment projects from concept through implementation
- Improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and equipment reliability
- Assist with industrial automation integration and controls procurement
- Ensure compliance with engineering change management processes and safety standards
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline preferred
- 5+ years of controls engineering experience within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Strong PLC programming experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley (Rockwell)
- Experience programming HMIs and configuring industrial networking
- Ability to troubleshoot PLC, HMI, DCS, and electrical control systems
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software
- Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Pay
$90,000 - $130,000 per year
