Are you our next Controls Engineer – Automation Specialist? The mission of the Controls Engineer - Automation Specialist is to design, program, commission and install automated solutions developed by the Application Center North America. The Controls Engineer - Automation Specialist will work closely with mechanical engineering, project management and production to deliver high-quality projects on-time and within a given budget. The Controls Engineer - Automation Specialist will also be responsible for programming and debug of the system while the project is assembled within our workshop. Upon completion, you will follow the project into the field and assist with installation and commissioning at the customer site. Here’s How You’ll Make An Impact Working closely with Automation project team (Project Management, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and design, production)Performing on-site field checks of existing equipment when requiredThreaded fastening/press theory and programming for Atlas Copco control systemsAbility to remotely support field installation technicians when requiredUnderstanding and applying customer’s specifications/protocols and requirementsMonitoring and working within project budgets and deadlinesAssist Sales, Proposal Department and product companies with the development of new products, concepts or cost-related issuesUnderstanding of machine safety standardsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentWorking within project budgets and timelinesYou will gain experience commissioning small automated cells into a customer’s environmentUnderstanding of industrial communication protocols and architectureInstallation and commissioning of projects at the customers facilityYou will learn cobot integration To succeed, you will need Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field (Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics) or equivalent on-the-job experience (5+ years of experience)Electrical & pneumatic CAD design and documentation of Atlas Copco projectsProgramming of PLCs and HMIs, (i.e. Atlas Copco products, Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.)Experience programming and integrating robots into light assembly cellsTest & Debug of projects before shipmentExperience developing PLC logic and HMIs from scratchApproximately 30% travel required within the US (typical installations 1-2 weeks duration)Experience with multiple controls architectures (Rockwell, Siemens, etc.)Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic drawingsStrong mechanical aptitude and communication skills In return, we offer Professional Development: Opportunities for growth, training, and career advancement.Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, and more.Financial Security: 401(k) with a baseline company contribution and matching opportunities starting at 6%, increasing further with tenure.Work-Life Balance: Generous paid time off, a comprehensive holiday package, and flexible scheduling options where available to support your well-being.Family Support: Paid Maternity & Parental Leave.Wellness Perks: Gym, Education, and Health Reimbursements.Rewarding Culture: An inclusive environment that celebrates innovation, teamwork, and diversity.
