Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering
- Create control system designs for HVAC and building automation systems (BAS)
- Create control drawings using Visio (schematics, network diagrams, panel layouts, point-to-point wiring)
- Interpret mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings to develop coordinated control designs
- Select control devices (controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, relays, power supplies)
- Documentation & Submittals
- Produce complete control submittal packages, including: Control diagrams, Points lists, Network architecture, Panel layouts, Device schedules
- Ensure drawings are correctly scaled, labeled, and compliant with company standards
- Revise drawings based on internal QA, customer comments, and field conditions
- Maintain version control and revision tracking
- Technical Coordination
- Coverage of RFI responses related to control design and scope
- Clarify design intent for installation and programming teams
- Participation in design reviews and kickoff meetings
- Standards & Quality
- Apply company standards, industry best practices, and applicable codes
- Ensure fail-safe operation, interlocks, and proper control logic intent
- Support continuous improvement of templates, standards, and design workflows
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent industry experience
- 1+ years of experience in HVAC controls or building automation
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Visio for technical drawings
- Solid understanding of: HVAC systems and control strategies, Sensors, actuators, and control devices, BACnet/IP and MS/TP networks
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Niagara, Distech, Johnson Controls, Siemens, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and functional testing
- Experience supporting control submittals and construction phases
- Knowledge of low-voltage wiring practices and panel design
