Controls and Compliance Lead, AWS Controls

About the role

This role will specifically oversee and support the AWS CapEx and Leasing processes within the global accounting organization that supports AWS lines of business.

The AWS Controls Team drives internal controls over financial reporting, subsidiary compliance, internal controls readiness, process improvements, and other compliance activities. We are subject matter experts that consult with control owners across our processes.

Responsibilities

• Execute on controls strategies
• Drive control design and implementation with engineering and business teams
• Conduct deep dives on process areas to define risks and controls addressing financial reporting risk
• Advise on and design controls and compliance programs
• Provide ongoing support to process owners, control owners, and cross-functional teams to ensure controls are designed and implemented effectively
• Participate in annual walkthroughs with process, application, and control owners across the company and external auditors
• Assist in the evaluation of identified control deficiencies and monitor remediation efforts

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in controls, audit, compliance, or SOX roles
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
• Experience designing and implementing controls or performing audits over financial reporting environments

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of Fortune 500 operational accounting experience
• Knowledge of internal control frameworks (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency
• Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification
• Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients
• Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

Pay

• USA, CA, Culver City: $72,600.00 - $117,100.00 USD annually
• USA, MA, Boston: $66,900.00 - $117,100.00 USD annually
• USA, OR, Portland: $66,900.00 - $117,100.00 USD annually
• USA, TN, Nashville: $60,200.00 - $105,400.00 USD annually
• USA, TX, Austin: $66,900.00 - $117,100.00 USD annually
• USA, VA, Arlington: $66,900.00 - $117,100.00 USD annually
• USA, WA, Seattle: $82,700.00 - $117,100.00 USD annually
