About the role
The Controllers team ensures the firm meets the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated, and public financial institution. As part of the firm's second line of defense, Controllers provides critical analysis to ensure the accuracy of internal and external financial information. The team also safeguards the firm's assets through independent scrutiny and engages regularly with regulators and auditors to protect the firm from reputational and other risks.
Direct Hedge Funds, Hedge Funds Strategies, and Private Equity Group teams within Controllers support the Asset & Wealth Management Division by overseeing complex private funds.
Responsibilities
- Safeguard the assets and reputation of the firm by controlling and supporting the asset management division, ensuring compliance with the firm's policies and global financial market regulations.
- Review quarterly and monthly valuations and NAVs for private equity and hedge funds, review year-end financial statements, and perform related activities.
- Support fund launch and liquidation processes.
- Handle corporate, regulatory, and management reporting for funds.
- Work closely with other divisions, including Business Teams, Product Services, Operations, IT, and Trading Divisions.
- Collaborate with fund administrators and auditors.
Qualifications
- 4-7 years of related experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Master's Degree in Accounting preferred.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) certification with experience in alternative investments, private funds, or process management is desired.
- Basic knowledge of financial statement preparation and review, US GAAP, IFRS, and experience coordinating with Big 4 accounting firms during audit cycles is desirable.
- Strong accounting knowledge of financial products such as interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, and currency options.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and work in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal, client relationship, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Self-starter with an inquisitive, enthusiastic, and strong analytical mindset.
