Controller, CPA
About the role
The Controller will lead, manage and oversee all financial reporting and accounting functions for the Prominence Health Plan companies from a GAAP and SSAP perspective. Specifically, the role is responsible for:
- Leadership and management of the Accounting team
- Accurate and timely financial reporting
- Overseeing financial regulatory filings (NAIC and CMS)
- Leading and coordinating successful external audits
- Developing and managing adequate financial controls and policies
- Actively performing balance sheet and SOX reviews for all lines of business
- Compiling and communicating executive summaries and key financial metrics
- Participating in the development of the company’s strategic plans
- Coinciding projections with corporate Treasury on required RBC levels
Responsibilities
This executive will actively participate with the CFO and other key executives in the development and implementation of key strategic initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting in a health insurance setting is required
CPA required; experience is public accounting preferred.
5+ years of financial accounting experience. Must have experience in the health insurance industry. Experience with Medicare Advantage is preferred.
10+ years of experience in a progressively advanced accounting roles preferred.
Strong understanding of U.S. Regulatory and U.S. GAAP requirements.
