Controller - Chicago Loop - Hybrid (2 days in office)

About Our Client

I'm currently partnered with the CFO at a global, multi-million dollar consumer goods company looking to grow their team due to continuous organic and acquisitive growth. They have been around for 50+ years and are reinventing their brand with major investments in their space. Their goal is continue the growth of the business over the course of the next 5 years, and are looking to add a strong Controller to their team due to this.

Job Description

• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards
• Lead the close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership
• Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
• Participate in annual physical inventory count & applicable reconciliations
• Maintain and improve accounting systems, policies, and procedures
• Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all financial transactions
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and process optimization
• Implement best practices in financial reporting and controls

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or MBA preferred
• 8+ years of experience in Accounting
• Manufacturing and/or consumer goods industry experience preferred
• Inventory management/reconciliation experience required
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
