Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to bring bank and general ledger account reconciliations up to date and resolve outstanding discrepancies.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation to maintain accurate financial records.
- Manage the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and balances are properly reviewed.
- Produce monthly financial reports and financial statements that reflect current operating results.
- Investigate historical accounting issues, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions where needed.
- Maintain accounting records within QuickBooks Desktop while supporting accounting activities tied to the move to QuickBooks Online.
- Use Microsoft Excel to analyze account activity, organize reconciliations, and track progress on outstanding items.
- Demonstrated experience performing bank reconciliations and account reconciliations in a high-volume accounting environment.
- Strong working knowledge of journal entries, month-end close, and monthly financial reporting.
- Able to prepare and review accurate financial statements with close attention to detail.
- Hands-on experience using QuickBooks Desktop; familiarity with QuickBooks Online is also required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for account analysis, tracking schedules, and reporting support.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize a backlog of accounting tasks, and meet deadlines in a Contract role.
