Controller
PumpMan, a Harrington Company, is seeking a Controller to lead all accounting and financial reporting functions. This role is a key business partner responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and building a scalable accounting infrastructure.
About the role
This position will oversee all aspects of financial reporting and general ledger accounting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP. The Controller will lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, and establish and maintain a strong internal control framework and corporate accounting policies.
Responsibilities
- Own all aspects of financial reporting and general ledger accounting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements for completeness and insight
- Partner with external auditors on year-end audit and tax preparation, ensuring full compliance
- Establish and maintain a strong internal control framework and corporate accounting policies
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities with meaningful financial analysis
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational objectives and strategic decisions
- Educate business leaders on the financial impact of key decisions
- Lead all M&A-related accounting activities, including integration, consolidation, and GAAP compliance
- Oversee General Ledger and Shared Services teams
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting team through coaching and mentorship
- Build scalable processes and talent to support continued growth and acquisitions
- Drive process improvements and technology enhancements across the accounting function
- Develop accounting strategies aligned with broader organizational goals
- Evaluate trends and implement operational and productivity improvements within the function
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting principles
- Proven experience leading financial reporting and close processes
- Experience partnering with external auditors and managing audits
- Background supporting or leading M&A integration and accounting
- Demonstrated success driving process improvements and leveraging technology
- Strong leadership skills with experience building and developing teams
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence and support business decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
- Experience in a controller or similar role
