Controller

About the role

The role is a hands-on, build-phase Controller position at ZonPrep, a fast-growing 3PL and Amazon FBA prep operation. The Controller will lead the finance function during a period of significant scale, transitioning from cash to accrual accounting and building robust processes to support growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end conversion from cash to accrual accounting and establish foundational accounting policies.
• Own the monthly close, bookkeeping, and the production of timely, accurate financial statements and management reporting.
• Oversee the accounting configuration of the finance stack, including managing integration logic.
• Create and document repeatable processes for accrual-basis bookkeeping and general financial workflow.
• Manage AR/AP processes, including mentoring a Shared Services Associate to handle AP execution and expand into broader staff-accounting duties.
• Coordinate with the external CPA for periodic review and tax compliance.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record in a Controller or head-of-accounting capacity.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or a related field).
• Must have personal, hands-on experience executing a cash-to-accrual accounting conversion and strong overall knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and experience with modern spend/AP platforms (e.g., Ramp).
• CPA license preferred.

• You are comfortable working in a fast-moving operation where you are the primary finance function and partner closely with operations leadership.
• A "roll-up-your-sleeves" mindset is essential. You must be comfortable managing the daily transactional details while maintaining the ability to think strategically about scaling the finance function.
• A strong understanding of operational finance is critical, specifically within a high-volume, inventory-heavy, or logistics environment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
