About the role

Gateway Truck & Refrigeration is a leading Carrier Refrigeration, Volvo, Hino, TICO and Isuzu dealership operating 16 locations across Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Tennessee. We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our leadership team in Collinsville, Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the company's day-to-day accounting operations.
• Lead and manage the monthly and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial records.
• Oversee account reconciliations and balance sheet support.
• Monitor and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Analyze financial performance, including revenue, gross profit, expenses, working capital, and other key metrics.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the CFO and company leadership.
• Aid with cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions.
• Cook up year-end review and tax activities with outside accounting professionals.
• Lead, develop, and mentor members of the accounting team.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and financial reporting throughout the organization.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
• 7+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• Previous controller, assistant controller, accounting manager, or similar leadership experience preferred.
• Previous experience of managing and growing a team.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting.
• Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency, including the ability to use formulas and functions, create and manipulate PivotTables, organize and analyze large datasets, and develop reports and financial models.
• Experience managing and developing accounting personnel.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Dealership experience is preferred but not required.
• CPA designation is preferred but not required.

Schedule

This position is strictly 100% in person at our Collinsville, IL corporate office.

Travel

Travel is estimated 15-20% especially while getting acclimated to the role.
