Henderson, Nevada – Onsite role (4 days per week in-office).
About the role
The Controller works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Practice President to drive financial operations and business development in one of the largest oncology practices in Southern Nevada.
Responsibilities
- Develop systems and monitor compliance with company/practice agreements, including the Management Services Agreement.
- Ensure practice compliance with accounting and revenue-cycle policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Oversee revenue cycle and reconcile key accounts (AR, cash clearing, credit balances, reserves for contractual, bad debt, and denials).
- Report detailed financial information to Executive Director and physician leadership; present at physician and board meetings.
- Act as financial liaison between the practice and the U.S. Oncology Network.
- Support department managers, practice administration, and physicians in preparing, understanding, and using financial information to improve cost effectiveness.
- Ensure information systems capture financial data required by third-party payers, practice management, physicians, and external sources (Insurance, SEC, etc.).
- Ensure fiscal deadlines are met and appropriate data is provided.
- Establish and monitor internal controls of assets/resources; develop and write financial policies and procedures.
- Direct practice and site cost accounting, budgeting, and special projects; develop annual budget and coordinate budgets for all operating units.
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff, including performance management, succession planning, talent development, and career progression.
- Oversee operating, capital, and cash-flow budgets; assist practice management in controlling expenditures to stay within budgetary limits.
- Review proposed contracts for financial impact and risk factors; audit contracts, orders, and vouchers before processing.
- Coordinate external audits as necessary.
- Coordinate bookkeeping activities, including maintaining general ledger and related systems for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
- Coordinate payroll functions and related reporting.
- Ensure proper receiving, deposition, and disbursing of all center funds.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum seven years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
- Minimum three years in a leadership role.
- Three years public accounting experience preferred.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- CPA or CMPE certification preferred.
Physical Demands
- Requires sitting for long periods of time; some bending and stretching.
- Adequate finger dexterity and feeling to perform keyboarding and substantial repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range; must be able to view computer screen and printed material accurately.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 30 lbs.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in an office environment with frequent interaction with practice management, staff, and physicians.
- May require occasional travel by air or automobile.
