About the role
Bal Seal, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Arxis (Nasdaq: ARXS), is seeking a Business Unit Controller to oversee the accounting operations, including financial transactions, report generation, and maintaining records. The role involves preparing consolidated results for management, managing a team, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and IFRS.
Responsibilities
- Accurately and timely close the financial books and records for Bal Seal.
- Monitor budget versus actual on a total Company and Departmental level.
- Communicate policies and procedures to accounting staff and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with management and various departments on operational issues.
- Manage workload and monitor work quality of two Staff Accountants and an assistant.
- Provide suggestions and input to the VP and General Manager regarding operating policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and review monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
- Review general ledger, income statement, and departmental budget versus actual reports.
- Audit schedules, back-up, and other PBCs with internal and external auditors.
- Support ad-hoc special projects to support the Block, Segment, and overall Arxis goals.
- Manage accounting operations including A/R, A/P, G/L, Inventory/Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Ensure the accuracy of inventory through cycle counts, annual physical, WIP reviews, and reserve analysis.
- Manage capital projects and forecast cash flow impacts.
- Collaborate with Arxis tax resources to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Implement changes to accounting systems, processes, and procedures, as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing direct reports.
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting, with minimum of 5 years in manufacturing.
- Public company experience is a plus.
- Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office Suite tools.
- ERP systems experience required; Oracle – JD Edwards preferred.
- Thorough understanding of accounting procedures and GAAP.
- Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
- Proven record of improving efficiencies and reducing costs across the business.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Closely attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
- Thorough understanding of accounting procedures and GAAP.
- Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
