About the role

The Controller leads the accounting department in our Advanced Technologies (AT) group, overseeing operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The role manages staff, ensures compliance with policies and regulations, directs the financial accounting cycle, and implements financial systems. The position also evaluates capital assets and ensures financials comply with GAAP, FAR, and CAS standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and review the overall accounting department operations and activities.
  • Create informed and insightful annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, monthly variance analysis, and ad-hoc analyses in support of operational decisions.
  • Perform staff planning, performance reviews, and budgeting functions for the department.
  • Direct the execution of the financial accounting cycle.
  • Design, develop, and implement financial systems and their modifications and enhancements.
  • Review and monitor compliance with company policies and governmental regulations.
  • Generate the company's financial reports in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and assess all phases of the capital assets program.
  • Ensure financials are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including managerial experience.
  • Experience applying industry best practices related to forecasting and project analysis.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company guidelines, SOX, GAAP, and government regulations.
  • Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Initiative-taking and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Prioritized and executed tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • U.S. Citizen.

Qualifications

  • A CPA or MBA.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ managerial experience.
  • Experience with SAP, OneStream, Power BI, and advanced Excel.

Pay

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $114,000 and $180,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.

On site in Lynchburg, VA. Relocation may be offered.
