Control Systems Engineer
About the role
The Controls Systems Engineer position offers an opportunity to work with innovative colleagues globally, transitioning from various backgrounds to a 3M career. Key responsibilities include providing control systems solutions, designing and installing new equipment, troubleshooting, and leading projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective control systems solutions to a variety of new and existing automated process equipment
- Design, install, and commission new automated equipment for manufacturing to enhance efficiency, ergonomics, and product quality
- Partner with manufacturing teams daily to troubleshoot controls issues and implement corrective actions
- Experience leading control systems projects, including selecting hardware and providing software for new process equipment
- Work collaboratively to meet project milestones
Requirements
- Associates Degree or higher (verified prior to start)
- Ten (10) years of experience working with machine control system design and commissioning in a private, public, government, or military environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (completed and verified prior to start)
- Rockwell Automation - ControlLogix/CompactLogix/GuardLogix PLCs, PowerFlex Drives, Kinetix Motion Servos, Panelview
- Experience with Allen Bradley controls systems and hardware
- Experience with automation and/or robotics
- Demonstrated project leadership including strong written and oral communication skills

Work Location
Onsite in Red Wing, Minnesota. Travel may be required up to 5%, and relocation may be authorized.
