Job Summary

EMCOR Government Services is seeking a Control Systems Specialist in College Park, Maryland. The role serves as an advanced instrument repairer, performing involved maintenance, testing, calibration, and repairs on conventional and complex control systems, instruments, meters, and recorders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyzing various control systems and making modifications to upgrade these systems to improve reliability and efficiency
  • Diagnosing, testing, and repairing malfunctioning instruments and controls, on site or in the workshop
  • Installing new equipment/instruments and ensuring the system is operational
  • Tracing control wiring and ladder diagrams if necessary
  • Working on electronic, electrical, and pneumatic instruments and controls such as pneumatic to electronic transducers, valves, and valve positions, ring balance meters, differential pressure transmitters, pneumatic feedback controllers, electronic and pneumatic temperature, pressure, and flow measuring and transmitting devices, microcomputers, watt load chillers, and electronic/pneumatic graph recorders
  • Performing troubleshooting and repairs of all BAS equipment
  • Instituting corrective action and/or informing supervisor on any deficiencies found while performing the job
  • Monitoring subcontractors in their tasks and providing reports when needed

Qualifications

  • Possess at least five (5) years of experience in electronic, electrical, and pneumatic instruments and control work associated with industrial refrigeration and HVAC systems, including sequence of operation for recording devices, microcomputers, and auxiliary equipment
  • Proficient in using test equipment (meters, leak detectors, micrometers, amprobes, psychrometers, analyzers, CO and CO2 testers and monitors) to troubleshoot and repair HVAC/EMS equipment
  • Experience using Automated Logic Web Ctrl building automation system highly desired
  • Valid Maryland 1st Class Steam Engineer License highly desired
  • Journeymen’s HVAC License preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions involving control diagrams, drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and specifications

  • Manual dexterity and mobility
