Control Room Operator - West Valley

Responsibilities
- Under limited supervision, responsible for learning the facility specific operation of various power generation units and their related equipment.
- Operate and monitor equipment and auxiliaries by remote control from the control room and throughout the facility.
- Coordinate and maintain unit availability with AGC, preparing and planning for load reductions/increases based on system demands.
- Evaluate plant processes and issue clearances as needed, requiring a thorough knowledge of the clearance procedure.
- Train personnel in the proper operation of plant equipment, controls, and procedures.
- Assist as directed by others in the completion of tasks.
- Perform regular O&M duties at the site, including housing areas, civil works, roadways, water or sewer systems, etc.
Requirements
- Must complete at least one year as O&M Specialist III, Operations or equivalent skills and knowledge.
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit test, and training required.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test.
Qualifications
- Must pass mandatory regulatory training to comply with SRP policy.
- All training must be completed within two years from the date of promotion, with Plant Manager's agreement for variations due to work demands.
- The skill-training curriculums will vary based on business needs and can change to meet the needs of the facility.
Skills
- Complete training objectives as outlined in the Operations Specialist Trainee program.
- Successfully complete all testing and Job Performance Measures.
- Develop skills necessary for promotion to the Operations Specialist position.
