CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR

About the role

Works under the supervision of the Jail Commander. Position located at the Public Safety Complex. Monitors and operates the jail radio systems, observes video monitors, and communicates on the intercom with inmate housing areas. Ensures jail rules and regulations are enforced and inmates are in compliance throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inmate activities in housing cells, cell blocks, hallways, and all portions of the jail.
• Maintain constant observation on suicide risk inmates and other known inmate behavioral problems.
• Monitor inmates as they move from cells to other areas such as the exercise area, classrooms, and interview rooms.
• Maintain inmate records, reports, and logs related to specific duties.
• Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Must pass a detailed background investigation and meet the same background requirements as a Corrections Deputy I.
• Must pass training requirements.
• Must live within a 40-minute response time to Kanab.
• Must be willing to work a schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and graveyard shifts.
• Must have a current valid Driver License.

Special Qualifications

• Must be willing and able to be certified in First Aid and CPR within the first year of hire (training provided by Kane County).

Pay

$2.00 per hour additional differential pay for graveyard shifts.

Schedule

Standard shifts are 12 hours but may vary as needed.
