Control Engineer II

About the Role

Design and develop machine control systems to support new product development, product improvements, capacity expansions, and equipment rebuild projects. Primary responsibility will be designing controls systems using AutoCAD Electrical, PLC and HMI programming, but must be willing and able to assist in all project activities to meet requirements, including panel building.

Responsibilities

• Manage, develop, and implement automation systems projects for tooling, controls, and equipment to achieve stated objectives while meeting cost and time targets.
• Implement methods, process, or control changes to systems to reduce overall costs, improve quality, and expand manufacturing capabilities.
• Participate in equipment design and review from a systems design perspective.
• Maintain accurate BOMs and files to support project documentation packages.
• Support standardization initiatives by specifying and purchasing similar controls equipment, components, and participate in standards development.
• Provide technical assistance to manufacturing and maintenance personnel to solve chronic or complex problems.
• Lead the physical assembly of mechanical/electrical machine designs, making adjustments as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical area (Electrical Engineering preferred).
• 3-5 years of professional experience in manufacturing engineering.
• AutoCAD experience required (AutoCAD Electrical preferred).
• Fanuc Robotics experience is a strong plus.
• Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components.
• Familiarity with NEC and NFPA codes.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation software and components (RSLogix 500/5000, FactoryTalk View, FactoryTalk Transaction Manager, Kinetix Drives, Ethernet, and DeviceNET communication protocols).

Physical Demands & Environmental Conditions

• Frequent sitting and work at a computer for extended periods (estimated 50% desk / 50% floor role).
• Willingness to travel to Hendrickson manufacturing facilities as needed (up to 20%).
• Work in and around industrial machinery, exposed to automation, machining, heat treat, laser cutting, and other assembly processes.
• All necessary PPE (as defined by OSHA) and associated training will be provided.
