About The Job

DK Security is seeking qualified professionals to join our Central Control team. While employed by DK Security, you will be assigned to Central Control, the Security Operations Center supporting State of Michigan facilities. Operators work alongside State of Michigan personnel and under the direction of Central Control leadership to provide exceptional service.

DTMB Central Control is a 24/7/365 operation that monitors security and life safety systems, coordinates emergency responses, and serves as a central point of contact for agency security requests. Responsibilities include monitoring security cameras, initiating emergency responses, coordinating with stakeholders, drafting communications, and maintaining security equipment. Military veterans and individuals with security, firefighting, corrections, or law enforcement experience are encouraged to apply.

Keys To Control Center Operator Success

  • Be computer literate and able to use standard office software
  • Dress professionally with excellent personal hygiene and grooming standards
  • Have strong customer service and phone skills
  • Remain calm in emergencies and de-escalate situations
  • Commit to teamwork, studying, and applying post guidelines with high accuracy
  • Pay close attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process emergency information (medical emergencies, threats of violence, suspicious activity, fire, weather emergencies, etc.)
  • Initiate emergency response efforts based on established procedures and best practices
  • Coordinate response efforts with law enforcement, emergency dispatchers, fire fighters, medics, security guards, facilities supervisors, and management
  • Draft and send emergency communications and after-action reports
  • Utilize security systems to monitor and facilitate emergency response efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, internet, and ability to learn new software)
  • At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED (per MCL 338.106717(2))
  • Must pass a drug screening (including for marijuana) at hire and randomly thereafter
  • No felony convictions (per MCL 338.106010(1)(c))
  • No misdemeanor convictions related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses (per MCL 338.106010(1)(c))
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk (including stairs) for 8–12 hours at a time
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certified (or willing to become certified) and physically capable of administering lifesaving care
  • Able to see clearly at least 20 feet away (with glasses/contacts if needed)
  • Able to hear conversations in loud environments (in-person or via radio)
  • Proficient in using smartphones and computers for typing, email, and online training
  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English

Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday–Sunday (various days)
  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts available
  • Must be available for morning, evening, and night shifts on a 3-to-4-month rotation
  • Evening and night shifts receive an additional $1.00/hour shift differential

Pay

$20–$27.15 per hour
