Control Board Operators x 2

We are seeking experienced Control Board Operators to support operations at a large-scale natural gas-fired power generation facility during a temporary staffing requirement. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced power plant operator with a strong control room background and high-pressure steam boiler experience to join an established generation operation for a short-term assignment.

About the role

You will be responsible for operating and monitoring high-pressure steam boilers, steam turbines and associated generation equipment, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable plant operation.

Responsibilities

• Operating control boards and DCS systems for boiler and turbine operations.
• Starting, operating and monitoring high-pressure steam boilers.
• Adjusting boiler firing rates to meet generation demand.
• Monitoring steam pressure, temperature, boiler water levels, fuel flow and combustion air.
• Maintaining generator load in line with operational requirements.
• Responding to dispatch requirements and supporting unit start-ups, sometimes at short notice.
• Troubleshooting operational issues and taking corrective action.
• Maintaining accurate operating logs and records.
• Working closely with the Shift Crew Leader and wider operations team.
• Following all safety, environmental and regulatory procedures.

Requirements

• Previous control room experience within a conventional, fossil-fuelled or steam power generation facility.
• Experience operating high-pressure steam boilers for electricity generation.
• Experience with DCS systems for monitoring and controlling plant operations.
• Strong understanding of boiler operations, combustion control, steam systems and generator load management.
• Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced operating environment.
• Strong communication, teamwork and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Ability to pass required pre-employment screening and participate in applicable testing programmes.
