Role Overview

This position supports the contracting needs of business units and provides guidance to departments for the procurement of goods and services. The role is responsible for the daily support of all sourcing and contracting activities, including managing the sourcing process, negotiation, and contracting through contract closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support all sourcing and contracting activities, including advising customers, leading Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) preparation, and leading pre-bid meetings.
  • Review offers, conduct cost and price analysis, and lead negotiations.
  • Prepare contract documents and agreements, and assist in contract administration, changes, and closeout.
  • Support a high volume of projects concurrently with defined turnaround parameters for all contract-related documents.
  • Lead negotiations of legal and commercial terms to ensure risk is properly controlled and mitigated.
  • Ensure all required terms and conditions are included in procurement documents and work with internal teams to resolve contractor exceptions.
  • Build and maintain a detailed knowledge of legal provisions, contract common law, and dispute resolution.
  • Draft contract language, including special conditions for non-standard purchases.
  • Identify and evaluate new sources of supply to meet customer needs.
  • Manage relationships with vendors to ensure efficient contracting and negotiation processes.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience sourcing and contracting activities
  • Knowledge of contract law and drafting
  • Experience in legal and commercial negotiation
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Customer-focused with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal customers, suppliers, and contractors
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines, large workloads, and multiple projects
  • Written and oral communication skills for negotiating and writing contracts
  • Organizational skills to plan and manage assigned workload and customer expectations
  • Ability to think strategically and apply judgment to decisions
  • Ability to acquire proficiency in supply chain and business technology tools such as SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Formal education or experience in contract language is preferred.
  • Experience in procurement or contracts is preferred.
