Contractor/Vendor Data Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on contractor to support data acquisition across various application platforms within data center environments. This role focuses on developing and maintaining scripts, API integrations, and database queries to extract, normalize, and integrate data into our data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have strong scripting experience, familiarity with APIs and databases, and the ability to investigate and troubleshoot complex data collection issues.
- Implement complete data architectures, including data schemas and components for consuming data from varied sources.
- Design and implement automated data flows for extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Develop and maintain scripts, API integrations, and database queries to extract device inventory and configuration-state data.
- Normalize data outputs to a common schema and integrate them into data pipelines.
- Optimize data aggregations while adhering to data privacy policies.
- Author technical documentation, data schemas, and real-time data telemetry specifications.
- Build and maintain moderately complex data visualizations.
- Communicate and coordinate with external and internal teams on project work, progress, and blockers.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of work-related experience in data engineering, analysis, and business intelligence. This includes experience with the physical implementation of moderately complex logical database designs and relational database concepts. Candidates must have the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, KQL, Power Automate, ETL processes, and building moderately complex data visualizations.
- Experience with Kusto, Power Apps, and Microsoft analytics technologies such as Azure Fabric, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Databricks.
- Experience with Microsoft analytics products.
- Experience building or supporting data pipelines.
- Experience working with large-scale data environments.
- Familiarity with PowerShell or other scripting languages.
- Experience with telemetry pipelines and structured data modeling.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
