Contract Utility Forester | Indianapolis, IN

About the role

ACRT, Inc. is seeking a Contract Utility Forester to join our team. This position is ideal for experienced professionals with a background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental studies, conservation, or related fields. The Foresters are responsible for identifying, inspecting, and evaluating trees and brush along utility lines, submitting inspection results with recommendations, planning, directing, and coordinating tree clearance activities, and communicating with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Identify, inspect, and evaluate trees and brush along utility lines
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of assigned tree clearance crews
• Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
• Serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers

Requirements

• Two- or four-year forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resources degree or related field OR high school diploma/GED plus two years of UVM experience
• High school diploma/GED requirement can be substituted with 5 years of related UVM experience
• Previous Vegetation management experience preferred
• ISA Arborist certification preferred
• Certified in competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working with GIS integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required

• Comfortable working in an independent environment and managing a geographical area for all vegetation related activities
• Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working with stakeholders, utility customers, and line clearance vendors
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Multi-tasking and strong time management skills
• Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules (available nights and weekends as needed)
• Valid driver's license required

Pay

The base salary range for this position is from $18 min to $24 max. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to customer contact terms, location, experience, and performance. Other rewards may include Paid Time Off, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, ESOP contributions, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and other region-specific benefits as eligible.

Schedule

Flexible schedules available, including nights and weekends as needed.
