Devenere Law Collective is a Houston‑based law firm providing legal services across civil litigation, family law, business law, intellectual property, probate & estate planning, real estate transactions, and corporate governance. The firm operates with a collaborative, team‑oriented culture and a primarily remote work environment, with local court and client support throughout the Greater Houston area. This Contract Staff Attorney position is a 1099 independent contractor role with an initial 6‑8 month term and potential conversion to full‑time employment.

Responsibilities

• Handle civil litigation matters, including courtroom advocacy and trial work.
• Conduct motion practice, legal research and writing.
• Manage discovery, depositions, and related documentation.
• Engage in negotiation and mediation.
• Develop case strategy and provide client counseling.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery briefs, and legal memoranda.
• Independently manage multiple matters while meeting a target of 160 approved billable hours per month.
• Appear in courts located in Harris, Fort Bend, and Brazoria Counties as needed.
• Maintain strong billing discipline and confidentiality.

Requirements

• Active Texas law license and good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• Minimum 8+ years of legal practice experience.
