Contract Soft Home Goods Product Designer (Hybrid)

About the role

Location: Framingham, Massachusetts. Job Type: Contract. This role focuses on designing and developing original soft home artwork for adult and kids' product lines, working hybrid (on‑site 3‑4 days per week) with a collaborative product development team. The contract runs through late January 2027.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute soft home artwork and surface designs for specified product programs using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Collaborate with the Product Development team throughout the full design lifecycle, from initial concept meetings through artwork execution and the prototype process.
• Select seasonal color palettes and apply knowledge of current market trends, color, and competitive brands to product designs.
• Translate, communicate, and interpret conceptual design ideas into production‑ready artwork.
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining flexibility, strong organization, and thorough follow‑through.
• Work closely within a team environment to ensure alignment on product vision and deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Design, Surface Design, Illustration, Graphic Design, or equivalent practical work experience.
• 3+ years of experience in product development with relevant product categories in textile, surface design, or soft home goods.
• High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is required.
• Background or strong interest in textile design, surface design, illustration, or product development.
• Demonstrated passion for home product trends, color theory, and knowledge of competitive products/brands.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong portfolio or link to an online website showcasing relevant design work and examples (required for consideration).

Pay

Compensation range: $40 – $45 per hour (actual pay based on education, experience, location, duties, certifications, etc.).
