Contract Scientific Recruiter (San Carlos, CA)
About the role
The Scientific Recruiter plays a crucial role in identifying, attracting, and hiring top scientific talent across research and development functions. This position partners closely with hiring managers and HR Business Partners to develop recruitment strategies, build talent pipelines, and deliver exceptional candidate experiences.
Responsibilities
- Develops creative sourcing strategies for hard-to-fill positions, including direct sourcing, internet recruiting, networking, utilization of external search firms, etc.
- Affirms internal and external recruiting resources and recommends solutions that best meet the recruiting demands of the organization.
- Ensures end-user education and training (hiring managers) within the business.
- Manages full-cycle recruitment for scientific and technical positions across R&D and Clinical Development.
- Pairs with hiring managers to understand talent needs, organizational structure, and workforce planning priorities.
- Identifies and engages passive candidates within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academic, and research environments.
- Builds and maintains talent pipelines for critical scientific capabilities.
- Partners with HR and Compensation teams on offer development and negotiation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in recruiting in the Biopharma industry across multiple functions required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Previous experience recruiting scientific roles is a plus.
- Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical drug discovery lifecycle is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Ability to gain credibility, engender trust, and influence across all levels of the organization.
- Strong partnering skills, bias for action and tangible results.
- Ability to follow assignments through to completion with an emphasis towards action and execution.
- Extensive experience leading recruitment activities.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing recruitment strategies, marketing plans, policies, and programs.
- Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS), Workday experience is a plus.
- Experience working in a global environment.
Skills
- Strong understanding of scientific disciplines.
- Ability to engage highly specialized talent in a competitive market.
- Proactive sourcing strategies utilizing LinkedIn Recruiter, professional networks, scientific conferences, publications, referrals, and talent mapping.
- Market intelligence regarding talent availability, compensation trends, and competitor activity.
- Ability to provide strategic advice and support to business leaders.
Qualifications

Pay
The salary range for this position is $91,600.00 - $121,600.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
Schedule
This role is a hybrid role, requiring the recruiter to be onsite in San Carlos, CA.
