Continuous Improvement Technician - 1st Shift

Primary Function

This position will be reporting to the CI department, and it is responsible for supporting the Plant in achieving business and financial goals by assisting in ECIS (Lean) activities, leading the 5S+ and the “New idea” & “Find It, Fix It” programs, performing time studies and small projects across the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Performs ECIS and improvement activities, as requested by CI members to drive improvements such as (but not limited to):
  • Manages the 5S+ program, supports actions & audits.
  • Develops and deploys Visual Management tools such as Tiers and Hour by Hour board and inventory control signals, among others.
  • Participates in Tier 1 and Tier 2 daily meetings.
  • Develops standards and provides training for CI tools usage.
  • Performs time studies and data analysis.
  • Updates work instructions and visual documents, as needed.
  • Being hands on, on the floor, and ability to use measuring/power tools to assemble things.
  • Manages the “New IDEAS” and “Find it, Fixed it” programs and supports actions completion.
  • Supports activities from CI events (Kaizen) & initiatives.
  • Performs small projects and problem-solving activities.
  • Supports other activities as requested and needed.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications: High school diploma Minimum of 2 years working in Manufacturing environment or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques – i.e. time studies, 5S, Work instructions, visual controls, etc. Exposure to problem solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) – i.e. 8D, PDCA, DMAIC, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, etc. Proficiency in various software applications – i.e. SAP, MS Office suite, PBI. Knowledge of industry and customer specific quality processes (i.e., ISO9001, etc). Understanding of production environments (low-volume/high mix and high volume/low mix) including safety/guarding requirements.

Additional Information

  • Experience in key processes that would be useful: Assembly experience Welding Fabrication processes: laser cutting and forming E-Coat Paint Process
