ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Create and announce on-air content, including music, arts and entertainment programming, underwriting and promotional material.
• Write and deliver broadcast scripts.
• Prepare content and traffic schedule.
• Perform other programming tasks, including audio production.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

• Live and/or pre-record programs or shifts meeting media organization leadership expectations.
• Announce and record promotional breaks as scheduled or needed.
• Research and prepare engaging, listener-focused content.
• Audition and assist with programming and production tasks, including recording fund drive and image spots, and maintaining the library.
• Assist with traffic scheduling of underwriting, marketing, branding, and promotional spots within local broadcast breaks.
• Backfill other content roles at the strategic direction of media organization leadership.
• Participate in fundraising across all platforms.
• Adhere to NPR’s standards of journalism.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Physical Demands: Walk, climb stairs, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
• Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Work environment: Noise level typically below 70 dBA.
