About the role
The main purpose of this position(s) is to teach non-credit classes offered by Olympic College Continuing Education(CE). Topics will vary based on the expertise of the person – some currently desired topics are ballroom dancing, astronomy, and IT.
Responsibilities
- Researching and building a class appropriate for continuing education
- Completing and submitting the Course Proposal Form
- Identify and determine any out-of-pocket expenses that will be incurred by students
- Using OC protocols and procedures, create an appropriate curriculum for a class
- Curriculum development will include clear Outcomes and instruction hours
- In coordination with CE Program Specialist, determine class location, and classroom size needed, and identify resources necessary to run the class
- Communicate with other OC departments regarding after-hour and weekend classes (Security), Parking Permits (Security), teaching station (IT), and other identified departments
- Prepare the classroom for teaching
- Availability to advise potential and enrolled students about class deliverables, expectations, and any out-of-pocket expenses that will be incurred
- Assess student satisfaction with the class
Qualifications
- Expertise in the topic area, either through experience or education
- Preferred qualifications: Teaching experience, Associate Degree (or higher)
