Contingent Worker Psychologist
Type: Independent Contractor (Support Services)
About the role
Provides quality individual and specific habilitative training activities to maximize the independent functioning of each person supported while minimizing challenging behaviors. Relies on knowledge, experience, and judgment with limited direction and supervision.
Responsibilities
- Develops Behavior Support Programs for people supported with high frequency, high intensity challenging behaviors identified by the interdisciplinary team, including strategies for teaching alternate adaptive behaviors and reducing the frequency and intensity of challenging behaviors.
- Counsels and assists people supported in developing and maintaining important relationships with peers, friends, and family members.
- Works closely with clinical/professional management staff to maintain communication, provide feedback, standardize procedures, expedite implementation of the Person-Centered Plan, and improve effectiveness of direct support staff.
- Supports staff in all service sites by addressing concerns about people supported behavior challenges in a timely fashion.
- Ensures accurate calculation of data for monthly progress notes and review of all behavior data.
- Completes thorough analysis of data and relates results to past performance.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university required.
- Licensure from the Board of Practicing Psychologists.
- Prefer background in Human Services with hands-on clinical experience and training dealing with the IDD population or related experience.
- Experience in conducting generalized evaluations and assessments for diverse groups (multi-handicapped, dual diagnosis, severe and profound intellectual disabilities, emotionally disturbed, etc.).
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to lift 10 lbs; must be able to lift a minimum of 15 lbs.
- Must be able to pull a minimum of 10 lbs.
- Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
- Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Required to regularly stand and walk.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level, requiring work on hands, knees, bending, standing, and lifting.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
- Must be able to talk and hear.
