Contingent Clinical Support Assistant
About the role
This position involves assisting with patient intake at the clinic level under the supervision of professional clinical staff and with provider oversight. The role includes tasks such as greeting and escorting patients, collecting and documenting patient information, taking vitals, communicating with providers, scheduling appointments, and maintaining a clean and stocked work area.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patients to examination rooms.
- Collects and documents patient paperwork and information accurately.
- Obtains and records patient vitals.
- Communicates with patients and providers as directed.
- Schedules patient appointments according to office protocols.
- Anticipates and manages provider, patient, and staff needs.
- Maintains cleanliness and supplies in examination rooms.
- Assists with training and orientation of new staff.
- Serves as a liaison between patients and providers.
- Takes and relays messages.
- Assists with lifting patients and medical equipment.
- Attends required meetings and participates in training.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent between ages 15-17 with a valid work permit.
- Successful completion of a related program and/or current C.N.A., EMT, PCT, etc. preferred.
- Valid CPR certification.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated competency in obtaining accurate patient vital statistics and patient health history.
- Proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including electronic medical records, email, and other relevant office equipment.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms, including proper phone etiquette.
- Knowledge of patient care procedures and organizational policies related to position responsibilities.
- Ability to prioritize, be well organized, and perform multiple tasks.
- Ability to effectively interact with others and work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to solve problems as required by position, including application of critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of the compliance aspects of clinical care and patient privacy and best practices in medical office operations.
- Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner.
- Ability to monitor, organize, stock, prepare, and keep exam rooms clean; maintain medical supply inventory in clinical areas.
- Ability to travel to other office/practice sites and meeting and training locations.
- Successfully completed IHA competency-based program within introductory and training period.
Skills
Essential skills include strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a commitment to patient care are also important.
