Job Description Role Overview: Step onto the front lines of digital safety as young people increasingly turn to AI for guidance and connection. As a Content Safety Specialist, you will apply your crisis support experience to a new frontier: evaluating near real-time conversations between users and AI to flag subtle and acute suicide or self-harm distress signals. Driven by sound critical judgment and standardized frameworks, you will take immediate action to protect vulnerable youth through clinical consults, parent/guardian notifications, and emergency escalations. Work Schedule: This is a 24/7/365 operation. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts available with shift differential for overnight, weekend, and holidays. Details provided during the interview phase. Compensation: $30.00/hour Remote Work Model: Ability to work remotely within the United States. About You You have worked in crisis services such as a hotline, crisis text or chat line, emergency department, mobile crisis team, campus/school counseling or similar. You know how to recognize both explicit and implicit signs of suicide and self-harm indicators, distinguishing between casual internet hyperbole and active suicidal intent. You take pride in being the compassionate human intelligence behind digital safety - applying standardized risk protocols, exercising steady judgment under pressure, and are ready to act when it matters most. You believe technology should be safe for young people, and you want to shape how it gets there. Key Responsibilities Real-Time Prompt Triage & Risk Screening: Actively monitor near real-time conversational logs between youth users and Large Language Models (LLMs). Apply standardized, non-diagnostic crisis screening tools and training to rapidly evaluate and flag acute suicide and self-harm distress signals. Youth Context & Intent Decoding: Leverage crisis knowledge, human behavior dynamics, and cultural awareness to analyze text-based interactions - accurately distinguishing between internet hyperbole, dark humor, creative writing, and active or veiled suicidal intent. Protocol-Driven Emergency Escalation: Execute immediate, time-sensitive escalations based on an established risk-severity framework. Operational Calibration & Protocol Fidelity: Participate in regular audit workshops, calibration sessions, and quality assurance reviews with Safety Pod Leads to minimize decision variance and maintain high protocol consistency across shifts. Strict Data Privacy & Platform Confidentiality: Uphold the highest standards of discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive youth conversational logs, user personally identifiable information (PII), and proprietary platform safety protocols, strictly complying with state/federal privacy regulations and corporate non-disclosure guidelines. Continuous Feedback & Policy Adaptability: Receive, apply, and rapidly integrate quality assurance (QA) feedback, coaching, and evolving platform policy updates into daily triage workflows to maintain high accuracy in a fast-changing AI safety environment. Self-Care & Operational Wellness: Maintain an active commitment to personal wellness and self-care, utilizing built-in shift guardrails and off-queue time to mitigate compassion fatigue and foster long-term emotional resilience. Core Competencies Analytical Acuity & Signal Detection: The ability to rapidly process dense text-based information, synthesize context, and separate true distress signals from background noise, hyperbole, or dark humor. Emotional Resilience & Stress Hardiness: Psychological stamina and self-regulation skills needed to maintain focus, objectivity, and composure when repeatedly exposed to high-acuity crisis content. Situational Agility & Decisiveness: The capability to make swift, confident, protocol-backed decisions in fast-moving, ambiguous scenarios without suffering from decision fatigue or hesitation. Linguistic & Cultural Intelligence: Intuitive grasp of evolving youth internet subcultures, digital communication styles, and online vernacular, allowing for accurate interpretation of tone and intent in text. Autonomous Drive & Remote Discipline: The intrinsic motivation, personal accountability, and focus required to maintain high operational alertness, prompt responsiveness, and productivity in a remote work environment without needing direct, in-person supervision. Rigorous Compliance Orientation: An unyielding commitment to operational discipline, data privacy, and strict protocol adherence, resisting the urge to take shortcuts under volume pressure. Adaptability & Coachability: High receptivity to constructive feedback and coaching, as well as evolving operational guidelines, with the capacity to rapidly adjust behaviors based on these elements.
