About the role
Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences is seeking an undergraduate Content Marketing Intern (Unpaid) to support DMU’s strategic digital presence and execution across social platforms. This role is ideal for students interested in social media, digital content creation and storytelling — particularly within higher education and health care.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the day-to-day execution of digital marketing across web, email, social media and advertising channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube videos).
- Create engaging captions, short-form videos and Stories.
- Support content planning and scheduling using social media and marketing management tools.
- Attend campus events to capture photos and videos for real-time or future content.
- Collaborate with DMU’s Marketing and Communications team on campaigns and projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Candidates must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship.
- Overall cumulative minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) required.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, English/Writing, Media/PR/Journalism, Business Administration, Advertising, Graphic Design or a related field.
- Have completed a minimum of 9 credits hours in major area of study.
- Previous internship or coursework experience in marketing, communications or a related area is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn) and an understanding of current digital marketing trends.
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
Qualifications
- Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
