About the role
Tesla Inc. is seeking a Technical Content Editor to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. You will be the bridge between Optimus technicians and engineering. By using in-house tools, partnering with engineers from service, quality, and design, and working collaboratively with diagnostics, training, technical operations, and other teams, you will help ensure Optimus robots stay productive and serviceable worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Partner with engineering teams to create and update diagnostic information and procedures contained in the diagnostics knowledge base for use by non-engineers
- Collaborate with various engineering and quality teams to gather technical information
- Understand technical problems and communicate them effectively to non-technical people
- Validate information for accuracy and use a routing and review process for document approval
- Edit content according to a style guide and enforce organization standards
- Improve editorial and visual standards for documentation and recommend new designs, layouts, and formatting as needed
- Manage tasks and information flow using collaboration software (such as JIRA, SharePoint, and custom databases)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical / Professional Writing, Journalism, Communications, or relevant working experience
- 1-3 years working experience in a related field
- Ability to edit and create documentation that is accurate, complete, clear, specific, and as concise as possible
- Ability to explain technical concepts to peers, people from different parts of the organization, and non-technical people
- Can extract and comprehend system operation from typical engineering documentation from both a software and mechanical perspective (e.g. schematics and subsystem specification documents)
- High level of interpersonal communication skills
- Strong capacity for both logical and creative thinking
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task and evaluate priorities
- Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with HTML, XML, DITA, Markdown, Git, SQL, and/or Python is a plus

Pay
Expected compensation: $84,000 - $192,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
