About the role
This position is for an Infrastructure Container Operations Engineer within the Enterprise Product and Platform Engineering team. The role focuses on managing Kubernetes container platform ecosystems in both AWS and on-premises environments. This is a technical engineering position responsible for the deployment, management, and automation of container infrastructure, supporting a significant growth in production clusters.
Responsibilities
- Manage Kubernetes and Linux server infrastructure, handling container platform ecosystems through Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Perform upgrades and patching for Kubernetes environments, primarily OpenShift.
- Support a high volume of application onboarding, moving applications from stand-alone servers to containerized environments.
- Handle user requests for environment builds and automation through tools like ServiceNow and Jira.
- Develop automation for cluster creation and other operational tasks using tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Conduct root cause analysis for platform issues and maintain comprehensive documentation.
- Collaborate with product teams to facilitate container adoption and support enterprise container strategies.
- Mentor less experienced team members on container technologies and best practices.
Requirements
- A minimum of three years of experience in a DevOps environment.
- Expertise in Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift.
- Proficiency with AWS and VMware environments.
- Strong background in infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins and BitBucket.
- Proficiency in Linux administration and scripting.
- Knowledge of version control systems.
- Familiarity with monitoring and cloud provisioning tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Developer experience.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes lifecycle management.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef.
