Heaton Eye Associates has been serving East Texas’ vision needs for over 40 years. We offer state-of-the-art technology with special services ranging from primary eye care to world-class laser surgery. Our physicians were the first to offer LASIK laser vision correction in East Texas and have performed tens of thousands of procedures since its inception. We provide a wide range of premium lenses including Symfony Extended Depth of Focus lenses, PanOptix® lenses, and Vivity® lenses to offer freedom from glasses and contacts after cataract surgery. Our surgeons were the first in East Texas to offer the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens, the only lens implant that allows patients to preview and adjust their vision after cataract surgery. We are the first and only practice in the area offering EVO ICL, another exciting option for patients seeking freedom from contacts and glasses. About the Area

Our East Texas locations in Tyler, Longview, and Athens offer year-round family activities. Longview provides rich Texas history and culture. Tyler is surrounded by 25 prime sporting lakes, ideal for fishing and boating, and is known for its colorful spring flowers. Athens, known as "Hamburgers-Heritage-Texas," combines small-town charm with larger-city amenities and is home to the East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Telephone Operator who takes pride in their work, values servitude to others, is a great team player, and has an open-growth mindset. This role involves answering and distributing incoming calls, screening calls to determine necessity, and taking accurate, complete messages for timely distribution. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling.
  • Follow up and contact patients regarding appointment recalls, Recare, Brevium, Solution Reach, website contacts, email contacts, and other practice operation platforms for appointment management and referral requests.
  • Perform work with a focus on effective communication and accurate documentation.
  • Assist team members and perform job functions independently using NextGen or similar medical office software.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of medical office experience (preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of appointment scheduling for multiple physicians and locations (preferred).
  • Extraordinary customer service and team member relations (required).
  • Multiline phone system experience (preferred).
  • Experience with NextGen or other similar medical office software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to help people.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Valid driver’s license.
