About The Role
Leaders Credit Union is hiring a Consumer Lending Analyst to join our Lending team. This role combines underwriting responsibilities with system administration for our Loan Origination System (LOS). You will decision consumer loan applications within your delegated authority and work to continuously improve the LOS platform.
Responsibilities
Underwriting
- Review and evaluate loan documents from our branch network to ensure compliance with credit union lending policies.
- Assess loan conditions for indirect and direct lending, evaluating applicants' earnings and financial condition to approve, counter, decline, or request additional information.
- Verify loan documents for completeness and accuracy, recording denials with supporting data.
- Maintain records of approved and denied applications, documenting denials or exceptions.
- Communicate directly with dealer partners and potential members to facilitate the approval process.
Loan Origination System (LOS) Administration
- Serve as the system administrator for the LOS, handling day-to-day maintenance, user access, permissions, workflow and queue configuration, template management, and resolving system issues in collaboration with IT and the LOS vendor.
- Stay updated on all releases, enhancements, and product updates by reviewing release notes, attending vendor webinars and user groups, testing new functionality in the sandbox, and translating updates into actionable recommendations for the Director of Consumer Lending.
- Maintain and refine automated decisioning logic, including decision rules, score cuts, stipulations, cross-sell offers, and third-party integrations.
- Recommend improvements to underwriting criteria, lending policy execution, and overall loan workflow using data, peer benchmarks, and frontline insights.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and change management for system enhancements, integrations, and new product rollouts, including testing, communication, and post-launch monitoring.
- Act as the escalation point for LOS questions from underwriters, processors, and branch staff, and serve as the internal subject-matter expert when working with LOS support and vendor partners.
Schedule
This position operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM to meet the needs of our membership.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of similar or related experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Consumer Lending Underwriter preferred.
- Hands-on experience with a Loan Origination System (LOS) is strongly preferred; prior system administrator, configuration, or "power user" experience is a significant plus.
- Comfort with data and reporting tools is preferred.
- A process-improvement mindset—ability to identify workflow friction and proactively propose solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain decisions and reasoning clearly.
- Must maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly demeanor with members and co-workers.
- Working knowledge of the credit union’s loan standards and governmental regulations.
