Consulting Utility Forester
About the role
Davey Resource Group, a Davey company, is seeking certified arborists, professional foresters, horticulturalists, natural resource specialists, environmental scientists, GIS technicians, and plant and outdoor enthusiasts to join our workforce. Our job involves helping clients manage vegetation to ensure a safe and reliable power source through proper practices.
Job Duties
- Work with major gas / electric utility systems and address their forestry needs
- Inspect utility rights of ways and identify incompatible vegetation with state and federal regulations
- Collect and enter data on handheld devices, follow maps, and use GPS navigation
- Communicate with landowners regarding work on or near their property
- Work with tree crews to ensure understanding and adherence to work prescriptions
- Affirm all terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions
- Cook with project managers, planners, and vegetation crews
Qualifications
- Embraces an outdoor and independent work environment
- Thrives on adaptation, continual learning, and training and is detail oriented
- Possesses knowledge of local tree species and species specific growth rates
- Great communicator and team player
- Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline
- Clean DMV driving record
- Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather
- Ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads
- Ability to travel overnight when necessary
- Minimum of 1 year of utility vegetation management experience or similar experience in a related field (tree work industry, landscape professional)
