As a Consulting Senior, you will prepare financial information for clients, including business and individual tax returns, while gaining exposure to a diverse client base across various industries. You will maintain client relationships, oversee internal staff, and work closely with leaders to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
  • Organize and review client-provided financial information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Use tax software and tools to input data, calculate tax liabilities, deductions, and credits.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities for assigned clients, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions, reconciliations, and adjustments.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by the accounting team.
  • Coordinate and lead month-end and year-end close processes for client accounts.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities in collaboration with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, and provide insights and recommendations to clients and management.
  • Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to develop proactive tax planning strategies, identifying compliance issues and opportunities to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Interpret and apply relevant tax laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Prepare tax projections and estimates to guide clients in making informed financial decisions.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and address inquiries related to accounting and tax matters.
  • Explain accounting and tax concepts and implications to clients in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to provide timely updates and recommendations to clients on their accounting and tax situations.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations and deadlines, filing tax returns accurately and on time.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and client-specific requirements.
  • Maintain organized and comprehensive files and documentation for each client engagement.
  • Track changes in laws and regulations and assess their potential impact on clients.
  • Collaborate with other professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster their professional growth.
  • Cultivate a collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and effective communication among team members.
  • Support team members in complex projects, including audits and specialized services.
  • Participate in internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance workflows, processes, and methodologies to improve the firm’s accounting and tax services.
  • May supervise subordinate team members.

Work Environment

  • Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working in front of a computer screen.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Local travel may be limited and unpredictable, depending on client needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in the following software: Microsoft Suite, CCH Prosystem FH, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, NetSuite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a professional service environment, such as a CPA firm, financial consulting firm, or similar setting.
  • Actively working toward achieving CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure or relevant certification, if not already attained.
  • Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $96,000 to $110,000.
