Consulting Manager, Education Research-FINOPS

For our client, we are seeking a Consulting Manager, Education Research-FINOPS to join the team of a leader in the Business Services space. This role will support higher education clients with accounting and finance leadership, helping institutions strengthen financial operations, resolve reporting challenges, and improve budget management. The Consulting Manager will work across client teams to lead interim engagements, guide process improvements, and keep complex projects moving forward. This is a hands-on advisory role that combines technical accounting expertise with operational leadership and client-facing collaboration. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $140,000 – $185,000 annually Responsibilities Serve in interim leadership roles for higher education institutions, such as Controller or Budget Director Act as a subject matter expert in accounting and budgeting with knowledge of university operations Lead resolution of complex financial reporting issues through detailed analysis Identify root causes of accounting issues and improve processes with intellectual curiosity Develop project plans to address client challenges and maintain project momentum Train and mentor client staff and junior team members as projects expand Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including close processes and financial reporting Qualifications U.S. work authorization required Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; equivalent experience accepted MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred CPA license preferred Significant experience in accounting and finance roles, particularly in consulting or higher education Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial management Hands-on experience with financial systems like Ellucian/Banner, Oracle, or Workday Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage Wellness programs Participation in the annual incentive compensation program Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
