About the role
Black & Veatch seeks a Consultant to join our Infrastructure Advisory organization, focusing on rates development for water utilities. The role involves working with water and wastewater utilities to develop financial models, build rate cases, support strategic planning, and optimize capital investments through risk assessment.
Responsibilities
- Perform and manage technical work for projects such as financial planning, cost-of-service, and rate design for municipal and regulated water and wastewater utilities.
- Conduct demand studies and assess the impact of large loads on utilities and customer impacts.
- Analyze affordability analyses and total cost of ownership and financial viability evaluations.
- Support business process assessments to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Develop asset investment plans, evaluate business cases, and prioritize capital investments.
- Collaborate with clients to deliver innovative solutions addressing pressing issues, including aging infrastructure, optimization of asset investments, and improvement of data management and decision-making.
- Prepare reports, presentations, processes, tools, and models to communicate analysis and recommendations effectively to clients.
- Facilitate and present in client meetings and workshops.
- Support the development of project scopes and fees for proposals, and participate in business development activities.
Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree preferred.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience required.
- 4+ years of experience in a business/consulting environment.
Management Responsibilities
- Apply detailed knowledge of water or wastewater assets and utility operations.
- Interpret quantitative and qualitative data to provide insights, identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and develop solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree preferred.
