Consultant Public Engagement Program Manager

As a Public Engagement Program Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in helping people understand how transmission infrastructure supports economic growth, reliability, and the energy future of the communities we serve. This is more than a communications role — it's an opportunity to influence public understanding, build stakeholder trust, and help advance critical infrastructure projects that power homes, businesses, and communities across our region. ATC embraces flexibility in our work and workplace, though this role is not 100% remote and requires relocation to Wisconsin.
Responsibilities
- Lead public engagement strategy
- Develop, enhance, and execute comprehensive public engagement programs aligned with ATC's business priorities and infrastructure initiatives.
- Create communication strategies that support project development, approvals, construction, and long-term stakeholder relationships.
- Help communities understand the value of transmission infrastructure investments and their role in maintaining a reliable electric grid.
- Drive digital communications excellence
- Oversee and optimize ATC's digital communications ecosystem, including websites, social media platforms, and digital engagement channels.
- Develop integrated digital campaigns that increase stakeholder awareness and engagement.
- Ensure communication channels meet accessibility standards and deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Create compelling content
- Develop strategic content that informs, educates, and inspires diverse audiences.
- Translate complex technical, regulatory, and industry topics into clear, engaging messages.
- Lead editorial planning and content development across multiple platforms, including articles, videos, infographics, presentations, and stakeholder-facing materials.
- Strengthen stakeholder relationships
- Support engagement efforts with communities, customers, policymakers, regulators, industry organizations, and other key stakeholders.
- Develop communication programs that enhance transparency and trust.
- Assist with issue management communications and reputation-building initiatives.
- Measure impact and drive improvement
- Use analytics, engagement data, and performance metrics to evaluate communication effectiveness.
- Build dashboards, reporting frameworks, and scorecards to guide decision-making.
- Continuously improve strategies based on measurable results and audience insights.
Requirements
- Experience developing and executing digital communication strategies.
- Strong content creation, storytelling, and editorial planning expertise.
- Experience managing website content strategy and digital platforms, including demonstrated success establishing a social media strategy, followership, and engagement.
- A track record of communicating complex information in clear and engaging ways.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, community relations, or public affairs experience.
- Experience using communication metrics and analytics to inform strategy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, Political Science, Public Affairs, or a related field.

Pay
The targeted base pay for this position is $128,400 to $149,800 annually. Base pay is one component of our comprehensive total rewards package. Employment offers are evaluated individually and consider qualifications, experience, academic achievements, internal equity, and business needs. Pay exceeding the posted range is considered for uniquely qualified candidates.
