About the Organization

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology, and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives, and corporate leaders.

About the Project

PHFI, in collaboration with the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), the Indian Council of Medical Research – National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN), and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), is implementing a project titled “Co-designing a gamification module to promote healthier dietary choices and reduce ultra-processed food consumption among school adolescents.” The project aims to co-design a gamified module targeting adolescents’ (11-14 years) healthy dietary practices. It combines nutrition literacy with behavioral nudges through persuasive technology, offering an interactive and user-friendly approach. The study has been funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth administrative and financial coordination of the project, including handling HR-related matters, timely procurement, vendor engagement, and agreement preparation.
  • Complete all necessary departmental clearances within PHFI.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations of the study, including processing payments, reimbursements, advances, settlements, and other approved project transactions in accordance with PHFI and ICMR policies and procedures.
  • Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and budget heads, identify potential variances, and support timely corrective actions to ensure effective utilization of project funds.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements, utilization summaries, and other project-related financial reports.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date records of vouchers, invoices, bills, receipts, ledgers, and all supporting financial documentation.
  • Conduct in-depth literature review to inform the development of the gamified module.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project reports under the guidance of the PI and Co-PI.
  • Coordinate activities at the school level, ensuring effective implementation and documentation, while continuing to support report development.
  • Assist in the organization of meetings and dissemination activities, in consultation with the PI and Co-PI.
  • Perform any other activities as delegated by the PI/Co-PI.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Three-year graduate degree in a relevant subject/field.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate degree in a relevant subject/field.
  • First-class postgraduate degree, including integrated PG degrees, with three years’ experience.
  • For Engineering/IT/CS: First-class graduate degree of four years with three years’ experience.

Experience

  • Essential:
    • Strong skills in managing administrative tasks, including HR and finance-related matters, ensuring seamless project operations.
    • Experience in overseeing timely procurement of equipment, managing vendor payments, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies.
    • Strong skills in Excel, including data organization, analysis, and reporting.
  • Desirable: 3-5 years of experience in conducting/supporting public health research.

Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in HR functions, administrative processes, and compliance.
  • Good computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
