Consultant Clinical Oncologist
Duties of the Post
- Clinical Commitments: The successful applicant will take up a post providing Clinical Oncology input to Lung cancer services. The cancer services in West of Scotland are linked to the relevant local and regional MDTs.
- Teaching, Management, Research and Audit: The successful applicant will participate in clinical supervision of trainees. Clinical trial recruitment is embedded within clinical practice within Specialist Oncology, which has an excellent supportive trials team and an exceptional track record for opening and recruiting to trials.
- Research Opportunities: The BWOSCC has an excellent track record in clinical research. It is a major contributor to local, national and international trials with circa 1000 patients a year being entered and randomised through the Clinical Trials Unit.
About the Role
The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre (BWoSCC) provides Specialist Oncology services to 60% of the Scottish population. The centre sees over 8,000 new patients a year and over 60,000 return patients. Over 105, 000 fractions courses of radiotherapy and over 25,000 cycles of SACT are given each year.
Requirements
The post is Fixed term for 24 hours.
Qualifications
The post requires a Consultant Oncologist qualification.
Skills
The successful candidate will have the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, participate in clinical supervision of trainees, and engage in clinical trial recruitment and research.
