About the role
Help shape the future of AI, data, and the built environment! Buro Happold is currently seeking an experienced AI & Data Consultant to join our growing Digital Advisory Team in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to help clients transform complex, fragmented data into meaningful insights and actionable solutions.
- Leverage modern data platforms, analytics, and AI technologies to solve real-world challenges across buildings, campuses, infrastructure, and cities.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries to transform raw data into clean, reliable, and analysis-ready datasets.
- Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to generate predictive insights, automate analysis, and uncover opportunities within client data.
- Support the development and integration of AI capabilities, including forecasting models, anomaly detection, and natural language interfaces.
- Identify and evaluate practical AI use cases, assessing feasibility based on data maturity, technical requirements, and business value.
- Integrate data from multiple disparate and often siloed systems into unified, trusted datasets.
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends, quantify opportunities, benchmark performance, and support decision-making.
- Translate analytical findings into clear recommendations that demonstrate commercial and operational value.
- Collaborate with clients, technology vendors, and project teams to source, validate, and manage data across multiple platforms.
- Perform exploratory analysis to uncover patterns and improvement opportunities within complex datasets.
- Ensure data quality, governance, documentation, and best practices are consistently applied across engagements.
- Develop compelling visualizations and narratives that communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree in a quantitative, data-related, or built environment discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience working with Snowflake and/or Databricks in a professional environment.
- 2+ years of experience utilizing SQL and Python for data analysis, transformation, automation, or engineering.
- Experience applying machine learning and AI techniques to real-world business or operational challenges.
- Familiarity with AI and machine learning tools and frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or cloud-based machine learning services.
- Understanding of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI, including responsible application within analytics and data products.
- Strong judgment regarding when AI-driven solutions provide meaningful value and when simpler approaches are more appropriate.
- Experience designing and developing data pipelines and analytical products from complex, real-world datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency with data visualization tools including Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to both clients and internal stakeholders.
- Genuine interest in the built environment and the role technology and data play in shaping its future.
Qualifications
- Experience in the built environment, preferably in architecture, engineering, or related fields.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in data management and AI implementation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for innovation and continuous learning in the field of AI and data.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and Python.
- Experience with Snowflake and Databricks.
- Strong understanding of machine learning and AI concepts.
- Proficiency with data visualization tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Benefits
- Salary range of $85,000 to $115,000, determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.

Pay
Salary range of $85,000 to $115,000, determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.
