Compensation range: $65,000 - $95,000 (base pay). Actual offers may differ based on experience, market conditions, and other relevant factors. The range does not include additional compensation such as bonuses, equity, benefits, or other incentives.
About the role
Altus Group is seeking a Real Estate Valuation Consultant to join our New York office in the Advisory, Altus Analytics division. In this position, you will manage the daily workflow through interaction with clients, subordinates, and supervisors, focusing on the quarterly valuation process of institutional real estate funds.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the appraisal management process and real estate investment vehicles.
- Perform complex Excel tasks, including VBA programming, data simulation, analytics, and advanced formula usage (e.g., Macros, Power Query, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Dynamic Name Range).
- Improve client deliverables through data visualization, presenting quantitative data in formats such as tables, charts, graphs, diagrams, plots, geospatial maps, figures, and correlation matrices, sometimes combined in dashboards.
- Interpret client requests and communicate/delegate them to the team.
- Manage projects/engagements to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Review all work by junior staff before client or third-party submission; coach and mentor junior staff.
- Review third-party appraisal reports as part of the valuation management process, resolving concerns with clients or appraisers.
- Ensure appraisal reports comply with USPAP and state regulations.
- Manage client communications throughout the valuation engagement; create or review portfolio metric presentations.
- Develop relationships with equivalent-level individuals in client firms.
- Deliver the highest quality of service and technical excellence.
Requirements
- A university or college degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Statistics, Data/Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong Excel proficiency, including experience with VBA (knowledge of R, Python, SQL, Tableau/Power BI, or Snowflake is a plus).
- Experience in commercial real estate valuation, asset management, acquisitions, or underwriting.
- Expertise in financial analysis and experience with financial modeling for commercial property types (office, industrial, retail, and/or multifamily) in ARGUS.
- Strong communication and project management skills, including managing deadlines, creating plans, and evaluating results.
- Experience with the client deliverable lifecycle and a proven record of successful management of client deliverables.
