About the role

As a Construction Cost Estimator at DBI Construction Consultants, you will assist with site visits, support project estimates, track costs, and prepare professional reports. Your responsibilities include:

  • Assist with site visits to collect measurements, photos, and project details.
  • Support the analysis of labor, materials, and timelines for project estimates.
  • Help track costs and flag differences between projected and actual figures.
  • Learn to prepare professional reports and data entries in estimating tools.
  • Gain exposure to industry software like Xactimate, Bluebeam Revu, and project scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day tasks will involve:

  • Collaborating on site visits to gather necessary data.
  • Supporting the estimation process by analyzing labor, materials, and timelines.
  • Tracking and reporting on project costs.
  • Preparing detailed reports and data entries using estimating tools.
  • Using industry-specific software such as Xactimate, Bluebeam Revu, and project scheduling tools.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, structural engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Past construction or risk management internship experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and technical reading skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience in Xactimate and scheduling software preferred.
  • A willingness to travel (up to 30%), work in varied field conditions, and meet the physical requirements of the job.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Close visual acuity to prepare reports containing words, symbols, and numerical figures.
  • Ability to use a computer terminal, keyboard, read printed documents, make detailed visual inspections, perceive color, perceive depth, and have a sufficient field of vision.
